Men’s Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Army’s Crowell Open

Giants total 13 top-10 finishes and four top-five results in season opening

West Point, N.Y. – Keystone College's men's track & field team opened up the 2017-18 indoor season with a strong showing on Saturday at the Crowell Open hosted by Army at West Point.  The Giants totaled 13 top-10 finishes including four top-five finishes on the day.
 
Carl Joseph (Hillside, N.J./Hillside) finished third in the 500 meter dash with a mark of 1:09.90 before placing 11th in the 200 meter dash after clocking a time of 23.71 seconds.
 
Edward Sichilongo (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.64 meters while Devin Smith (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale) took fourth in the 5000 meter run with a mark of 17:18.78.  Mark Arzie (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) brought home a fifth place result in the 1,000 meter run by crossing the finish line in 2:48.44.
 
Corey Allegrucci (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) scored a sixth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds before placing ninth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.72 meters.  Allegrucci also led a trio of Giants in the top-12 of the shot put, placing eighth with a toss of 10.17 meters.  Casey Montaro followed in 11th place while Obinna Azonobi () followed in 12th place.
 
Azonobi added a 10th place result in the weight throw competition with a heave of 11.01 meters.
 
Raymond Davan (Riverside, N.J./Riverside) led a trio of Keystone runners in the top-12 of the 3000 meter run, finishing ninth with a time of 11:08.30 and was following by Grant Doss (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) in 10th place and Nicholas Bohr () in 12th place.
 
Yaw Acheampong (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx Health Sciences) placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.92 meters while Nicholas Stanton (Syracuse, N.Y./Chittenango) finished seventh in the competition.  Stanton went on to place 10th in the 400 meter dash after crossing the finish line in 56.17 seconds
 
Keystone will return to action at the Fast Times Before Finals Meet hosted by Lehigh University next Friday and Saturday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
