VILLANOVA, Pa. – The 2022-23 academic year marks the 30th year of competition for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), which was founded in 1992. A celebratory digital publication has been released to commemorate all former and current members that have served as key pioneers in the ongoing success of the CSAC.

CSAC Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives Tone Cockrell (Upper Marlboro, Md./Landon School) worked collaboratively with institutional sports information directors to assemble the 16-page publication. "Being able to work closely with our core members and Mark Goldberg in producing this publication has been extremely empowering," said Cockrell, "I am grateful the conference instilled trust in me to help spotlight the last 30 years of academic and athletic growth of the CSAC."

Momentum Media provided creative and technical design of the online magazine. "It's been my pleasure to work with CSAC to commemorate its successful history of providing athletic opportunities for student-athletes at its member institutions," said Goldberg.  "The conference represents the best of the collegiate student-athlete experience, and I am honored to have been selected by CSAC to highlight its history and the history of its member schools."

"Schools have committed to athletics as an integral part of the student experience, and student-athletes more than ever, are empowered to actualize their voice and identity for change," said Marie Stroman, CSAC Commissioner. "This digital publication is an artifact of where the conference stands among a transformational time in college athletics."

In November 1991, ten charter member institutions with similar philosophies aligned to provide athletic competition for student-athletes from institutions with similar philosophies. The conference was formed to collectively recognize the importance of intercollegiate athletics in an educational setting and to increase institutional support without compromising academic integrity. These members voted unanimously to name the newly-found conference the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), and to have its official colors be red, white, and blue. On February 3, 1992, a press conference was held to officially announce the formation of the PAC, with competition to begin in the 1992-93 academic year.

Consistent with the philosophy, values, and goals of its members and (the) NCAA Division III; the conference provides for equitable treatment of all student-athletes; ensures every sport is valued; and places importance on participation and reaching one's potential.  The conference supports the educational missions of its members and the holistic development of the student-athlete.

To attest to the growth of the conference within the last 30 years, the conference sponsored 12 championships in year one; today, the CSAC sponsors championships in 16 sports including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, women's tennis, and men's and women's volleyball.
