BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Keystone College women's basketball team turned in a dominant road performance Saturday afternoon, rolling past Pratt Institute, 77–50, at the ARC Arena.
Keystone set the tone early, jumping out to a 14–4 lead after the first quarter behind strong defensive pressure and control of the glass. The Giants held Pratt to just 12.5 percent shooting in the opening period and never allowed the Cannoneers to find an offensive rhythm.
Keystone extended the margin to 33–15 by halftime, using balanced scoring and active hands to force turnovers and generate transition opportunities.
Krista Cortazar (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) led the way for the Giants with a game-high 24 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field and knocking down five three-pointers. Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) orchestrated the offense with 10 assists to go along with nine points, while Angelise Sanchez (Atlanta, Ga./Ocoee) added 11 points, including timely three-pointers that helped Keystone maintain separation.
Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) was a force inside, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double, as Keystone won the rebounding battle 59–42.
Pratt showed signs of life in the third quarter behind Kylie Grant, who finished with 35 points, but Keystone answered every run. The Giants carried a 47–30 lead into the final period before pulling away decisively in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cannoneers 30–20. Keystone shot 50 percent in the final 10 minutes.
The Giants finished the afternoon with 19 assists, forced 24 Pratt turnovers, and scored 23 fast-break points, showcasing a complete performance on both ends of the floor.
Keystone (2-9) are back on the court after Christmas when they face Elmira College on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m.
