Keystone Baseball Explodes for 14 Runs in Dominant Win Over Rosemont

HEUSER PARK, PA — Keystone College delivered an emphatic offensive performance on Tuesday afternoon, cruising to a 14-1 victory over Rosemont College behind a seven-run first inning and a complete team effort on both sides of the ball.

The Giants wasted no time setting the tone, capitalizing on early control issues and defensive miscues by Rosemont to plate seven runs in the opening frame. Keystone added four more runs in the third inning and capped the scoring with three runs in the seventh to secure the lopsided win.

Keystone produced 14 runs on eight hits while drawing nine walks and taking advantage of seven Rosemont errors.

  • Benny Hess (Reading, Ohio/Reading Community) led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with a double, four RBI, two runs scored, and two walks.
  • Emilio Portes (Miami, Fla./Monsignor Pace) delivered a key extra-base hit, finishing with a double and three RBI.
  • Jaxson Monroney (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) added two hits, two runs, and an RBI at the top of the lineup.
  • Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International) reached base four times, scoring three runs and driving in one.
  • Teegan Monroney (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) contributed a double and an RBI, while also scoring a run.

Keystone's aggressive baserunning also played a role, with stolen bases from Hess, Dee Rice (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman), and Carrinton Thomas (Detroit, Mich./Detroit County Day).

On the mound, Keystone's staff limited Rosemont to just three hits and one run while striking out 10 batters.

  • Luke Baker (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) earned the win with a strong five-inning outing, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six.
  • Noah Parks (Seattle, Wash./Tahoma) and Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) combined for two scoreless innings of relief, striking out four and allowing no hits.

After the explosive first inning, Keystone maintained control throughout, holding Rosemont scoreless until the fifth inning when the Ravens pushed across their lone run. The Giants' pitching staff quickly shut the door, retiring the final seven batters of the game.
